More upmarket features (e.g. RailCom, USP, S.U.S.I.) have been omitted to facilitate the design of a more low-cost, easy-to-install decoder. The Silver decoder is equipped on one side only, making for an extremely flat design that facilitates installation considerably. Silver MP comes with an 8-pin NEM652 interface plug that can be cut off for installation into a locomotive without interface. Except for RailCom, USP and S.U.S.I., the Silver decoder has all other Gold features, such as ABC or thermal overload and short-circuit protection.
