T044DVD Bahnhof Chur in winter (REOS production) DVD
T044DVD
Chur, in Canton Graubünden, is the oldest town in Switzerland. It lies at the foot of an historically important alpine crossing and in railway terms , it is a major junction. The SBB (standard gauge) from Zurich and St. Gallen terminates in Chur ,whilst it also forms the starting point for many "Euro-city" trains to destinations such as Paris and Amsterdam. The Rhätische Bahn (RhB, metre gauge) has operated through the station since the opening of the Lanquart-Chur-Thusis line in 1896. The station had not changed its format since 1928 , however, recently a major change took place, in the building of an intergrated bus station over the existing platforms. From the square infront of the station , trains for Arosa depart. From 1914, the lines have run through the streets of Chur providing spectacular "street running".Tourists are often surprised to see a Ge 4/4 II running in the centre of the road. We arrive with the train from Disentis, showing a great variety of scenes to give you a good impression of this station. Shots include passenger and freight trains, lots of shunting and atmospheric night shots. The majority of the recordings are from the RhB. We only use original sound recordings, without any music or commentary. Filming took place in January 2001 using a digital camera. Running time 59 minutes. REOS production. NTSC USA/CANADA/JAPAN standard.
