T012DVD Göschenen Station in winter (REOS production) DVD
At 3300 ft above sea level in Kanton Uri, is situated on the North side of the Gotthard tunnel, which is more than 9 miles long. The Gotthard route is an major transit route between the north and south of Europe. Many trains, freight and passengers, make use of this famous route across the Alps. The grade of 2,6% is especially severe for the freight trains, most of which are doubleheaded. Some even have "helper" locos at the rear which are attached at Erstfeld and decoupled at Göschenen. Freight trains are directed to the sidings to wait for passenger trains to overtake on this busy line. The service to Andermatt is provided by the Furka-Oberalp Bahn through the Schöllenschlucht. The weather forecast: Heavy snowfall, with possible sunshine at the end of the film. The recordings were made in February and March 2000 with a digital camera and are digitally mastered. We only use original sound recordings, without any additional music or commentary. Running time: 59 minutes. REOS production. NTSC USA/CANADA/JAPAN standard.
