In 1913 the Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon line was opened as an important connection from Bern to the South of Switzerland and Italy. The line was originally single track and between 1976 and 1992 it was upgraded to double track. In 2000 work on the Lötschberg base tunnel started which was opened at the end of 2007 when the timetable changed dramatically. REOS filmed this famous line in February 2005 before the base tunnel was opened . Passenger trains include SBB EW IV push-pull sets with Re 460’s, Eurocity’s comprising of Belgium and Cisalpino coaches which are also hauled mainly by Re 460’s. Freight trains, some with helpers, are operated by BLS and SBB with mixed and block freight trains to and from Italy, including rolling road trains. The weather is mixed; dull, sunshine and snow. Running time; 100 minutes. Maps are added to point out the camera locations. We only use original sound recordings, without any additional commentary or music. DVDR. Stereo/Dolby®-surround.
