BRAWA 2449 DB kitchen coach 2nd class 19936 in green
(HO scale) Four axle second class coach 19936 with kitchen compartment of the German Deutsche Bundesbahn DB in green livery. The Deutsche Reichsbahn fitted several of its former Prussian-type third-class coaches with a kitchenette. Although the coach layout remained unchanged, 2 compartments were emptied to house the kitchen. Travellers picked up their meals from the kitchen and ate them in their compartments. No meals were served to guests at their seats, which means the kitchen car was an early forerunner to the present-day bistro car, although in those days the meals were freshly prepared on the train. The Deutsche Bahn took over these coaches and continued to use them for passenger catering. Epoch III, full interiors, NEM couplers, length: 235mm.
