BRAWA 2090 KWStE 3-car latrine wagon set
(HO scale) Three wagon latrine transport set of the German Württemberg railways. From 1862, K.W.St.E purchased latrine cars. Typical for the Württemberg latrine cars were the three conical wooden barrels which were arranged crosswise to the direction of motion. Latrine cars served to transport waste water from the large cities. The lavatory holes were emptied by the city cleaning authorities or private companies. The waste was moved by means of horse and cart to the reloading ramps. From here the waste water from the horse-drawn barrel cars was pumped into the railway latrine cars. There were special latrine tracks at the destination railway stations. The liquid manure was released from the latrine car into pouring basins next to the track and then sold to the farmers nearby as cheap and sought after fertiliser.
